Celebrated on the Tuesday following the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy. #GivingTuesday harnesses the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. This year GivingTuesday is on November 27th.
Why Kairos Prison Ministry?
Kairos is dedicated to sharing the love and forgiveness of Jesus Chris with the incarcerated and their families, to help them become loving and productive citizens of their communities. Studies have shown that our programs reduce recidivism and prison violence, unite families, and transform lives.
There are three programs in Kairos Prison Ministry:
• Kairos Inside, ministering to men and women in prison
• Kairos Outside, ministering to women who have been impacted by incarceration
• Kairos Torch, which ministers to incarcerated youth in prisons and correctional facilities
What Do We Need?
We need the resources to recruit more volunteers and enter more communities. Through God's grace, prisons are continually asking for our help due to the effectiveness of our programs. We are thankful for all our volunteers efforts...they all share a desire to follow Christ's instruction in Matthew 25:36, "I was in prison and you visited me."
Over the next 4 weeks leading up to November 27th, we will be providing updates on our progress. We hope to reach 25% on week 1, 50% by week 2, 75% by week 3 and 100% by GivingTuesday! During these 4 weeks, we will be holding 62 Weekend programs which equates to approximately 2480 lives who are shown the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
